II Application Procedure for the Erasmus + Studies Program - mobility for the summer semester of the academic year 2021/2022

Recruitment procedure

The application procedure is open to students from the second year of studies. Submission of applications takes place via the usosweb.uj.edu.pl. Documents considered during the application procedure, and which cannot be attached via the USOS system, shall be sent by the candidate by e-mail to erasmus.law@uj.edu.pl.

1. In usosweb.uj.edu.pl, please complete the application questionnaire, which includes:

  • a. selection of the university to which the student wants to go (it is obligatory to indicate one university and a maximum of 3). The list of universities is available in the USOSweb system in the Student exchange - mobility offers tab;
  • b. information on the level of foreign languages proficiency ​​(the mother tongue of a given country, English or another foreign language, following the information provided by the partner university in the mobility offer);
  • c. curriculum vitae in Polish or English
  • d. a cover letter in Polish or English
  • e. information on foreign internships.
  • f. information on other experiences, in particular activities in research clubs, student organizations, and the student government; participation in classes of foreign law schools.

2. Documents that should be sent in electronic form via e-mail to erasmus.law@uj.edu.pl:

  • a. foreign language certificate (certificate from JCJ of the Jagiellonian University, language school, language certificates, matura exam).

    b. certificate of weighted average marks (cumulative average for all years) issued by the secretary office.

    c. certificates confirming the activities listed in the cover letter: in research clubs, student organizations, or student council issued by an authorized person.

3. Doctoral students also submit:

  • a. the opinion of the research supervisor (supervisor) about the doctoral student, indicating the relationship between the research conducted and the trip to the university chosen by the doctoral student.
  • b. research program to be carried out at a foreign university.
  • c. confirmation of participation in scientific conferences (only with the paper) and a list of publications during doctoral studies.

Partner universities to which applications can be submitted

The list of partner universities is available in the usosweb.uj.edu.pl in the Student exchange - travel offers tab.

Attention! Universities from Roman countries (including France, Italy, Spain) have a limited offer of classes in English or even do not conduct classes in this language at all. The current didactic offer should be checked on the websites of universities from these countries.

Rules for examining applications

1. Applications will be examined by the Faculty Committee for the Erasmus Program (hereinafter referred to as the Faculty Committee), appointed by the Dean's order and chaired by one of the deputy deans. The commission consists of academics, representatives of the student government, and doctoral students government. The secretary of the Committee is Ms. Małgorzata Wokal - the department coordinator of the Erasmus + program at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University.

2. A candidate is qualified for mobility to a specific university by the preferences specified in the application/cover letter. If the candidate is not qualified for the university indicated by him, the Faculty Committee may propose mobility to another university, if the candidate knows at an appropriate level the language in which classes are conducted at that university. The candidate is obliged to answer whether he/she accepts the proposal of the Faculty Committee within 2 days from its receipt.

If the number of candidates for a given partner university exceeds the number of available places, the place on the ranking list will be the basis for qualifying for the trip.

The ranking of candidates for a given university is determined based on the following criteria:

1. Average grade, max. 20 points. counting from an average of at least 4.00, i.e., for an average below 4.00, the candidate receives 0 points, for the average 4.00 - 4.04 - 1 point, for the average of 4.05 - 4.09 - 2 points, for the average 4.10 - 4.14 - 3 points, etc.

 

2. Language:

  • Official language, max. 15 pts. Points are awarded depending on the candidate's language level in the language in which the selected university conducts classes for students qualified for the ERASMUS program.
    • Levels A1, A2, B1 - 0 points.
    • Level B2 - 5 points.
    • Level C1 - 10 points.
    • Level C2 - 15 points
  • Additional, max. 5 points. If the language in which classes for students qualified for the ERASMUS program are conducted is different than the official language of the country in which the university is located, the candidate may obtain additional 5 points. for the command of the said official language at a level of at least B1. If the official language coincides with the language in which the classes are conducted, no additional points are awarded.

 

3. Scientific activity, 0-10 points.

  • active participation in scientific conferences
  • participation in research grants
  • scientific and didactic publications
  • received scholarships and awards
  • membership in research clubs (the number of points depends on the functions performed, implemented projects, etc.)
  • achievements in subject competitions
  • conducting additional TBSP classes (e.g., in civil law, constitutional law, criminal law, etc.

Evidence submitted by the candidate: certificates, lists, diplomas issued by an authorized entity.

 

4. Social activity - 0-5 points

  • membership in the WRSS WPIA UJ or SSUJ local government (the number of points depends on the candidate's function, implemented projects, etc.)
  • membership in ELSA Kraków (the number of points depends on the candidate's function, implemented projects, etc.)
  • charity activities/volunteering, including membership in associations, foundations, etc. (the number of points depends on the scale of implemented projects, workload, etc.)
  • implementation of social projects

Evidence submitted by the candidate: certificates or lists issued by authorized entities.

 

5. Completed School of Foreign Law - max. 5 points.

  • If the thematic scope of the School coincides with the legal system of the country to which the candidate is applying - 5 points.
  • If the thematic scope of the School does not coincide with the legal system of the country to which the candidate is applying - 2 points. (Regardless of the number of completed SFLs).

Evidence submitted by the candidate: study course card or certificates issued by authorized entities (School of Foreign Laws providers).

 

6. Year of studies

  • Second year - 2 points
  • Third year - 3 points
  • Fourth year - 4 points
  • Fifth year - 5 points

 

After the applications and documentation submitted by students are verified, they are assessed according to the above criteria.

Each application is assessed for universities of all choices by the priorities set by the candidate. After the awarded points are recalculated, the results are compared and sorted according to the system from the highest to the lowest. This way, 3 ranking lists are created.

Mobilities are awarded to candidates according to their position on the ranking list in order from the highest position to the lowest, starting with the university of the first choice. If a candidate is admitted to the university of the first choice, he or she is automatically removed from the subsequent ranking lists (second and third choice).

If a candidate has not been awarded a seat in any of his 3 selections, he will be offered to leave the pool of places still available after considering the entire ranking list.

After examining all positions, the ranking list will be saved in its final shape.

1. The Faculty Committee may refuse to admit a candidate for mobility to a partner university if it deems that the candidate is not making sufficient progress in education.

2. The candidate may apply to the Faculty Committee for reconsideration of his/her application within 3 days of receiving information on the preliminary results.

3. Students of the third year of first cycle Administration studies applying for the next year's mobility will be conditionally qualified (if a student who has been granted a scholarship does not continue his/her studies at our faculty in second-cycle studies, he or she loses the right to the scholarship).

4. After considering the applications, the Faculty Committee in the usosweb.uj.edu.pl system awards student mobilities to partner universities.

5. After receiving the information about the qualification for the Erasmus + mobility referred to in point 4), the change of the university for which the candidate has been admitted is possible based on the decision of the Erasmus + Program Coordinator if there are vacancies. A change is possible if the candidate knows the language in which classes are conducted at that other university, at the required level.
